MY PAINTINGS THROUGH THE YEARS
I was studying portraiture at this studio when I first joined in 2012, and like Van Gogh, I wanted to do a self portrait. I should paint another one of myself every few years to see the difference not only in my work and style, but also age-wise…
Every first painting of an image is a study and here’s a reversed view of a local coffee shop with a vintage feel. Those days, they had birds in cages to be ‘admired’ and be entertained by their singing. It was also my first in human figures in various sitting positions. It was a challenging but rewarding process.
An image of myself maybe? in something I fantasized I would be garbed in…This was also my first in doing an opera face that’s painted like this with all its glitter and colors - which I had enjoyed very much! I treasure this and every first has a sentimental value in it.
